Digital grain morphometry II. – Grain morophometric description of the two subtypes of einkorn wheat (Triticum monococccum L.) (T. m. ssp. aegilopoides, T. m. ssp. monococcum)

The digital grain morphometric analysis of the two subtypes of einkorn wheat (Triticum monococccum L.), T. monococcum L. ssp. aegilopoides and T. monococcum L. ssp. monococcum was performed for the purpose of examining the possibility of working out a grain morphology-based taxonomic key. Analyses were performed using Fovea Pro 4.0. Based on factor, discriminance, CRT (IBM-SPSS) and histogram (Microsoft Excel) analyses, it was concluded that two subtypes of the einkorn wheat can be accurately distinguished using a pixel-based grain morphmetric processing. This method makes it possible to distinguish the gene bank items of einkorn subtypes and varieties.
