Digital grain morphometry I. – Analysis of the grown einkorn wheat and regional varieties (T. m. ssp. monococcum)

We carried out the digital grain morphometric evaluation of nine einkorn and regional varieties from the gene bank (Triticum monococcumL. ssp. monococcum) using Fovea Pro 4.0 in order to work out a digital variety identification method and to determine the relationship of varieties. We also performed discriminance and cluster analyses (IBM-SPSS), as well as XY diagram analysis (Microsoft Excel). It was concluded that the pixel-based grain morphometric evaluation can be used to identify even the closest einkorn varieties. This method makes it possible to perform variety classification (DUS).
